Dr. Samantha Cook

Sam Cook is a Senior Research Scientist working in the Department of Biointeractions & Crop Protection at Rothamsted Research UK. She leads a group working on ‘Eco-IPM’ developing ecologically-based approaches for integrated pest management strategies. Her work is focused on oilseed rape cropping systems.  She has particular interests in the pollen beetle (Brassicogethes/Meligethes aeneus), cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala), and the use of trap cropping and push-pull strategies to reduce the need for insecticides. Her team are also involved in researching improved monitoring and decision support systems in oilseed rape crop management as well as methods to improve conservation biocontrol potential in the crop. She is the convenor of the entomology subsection of the IOBC/WPRS Working Group ‘Integrated Control in Oilseed Crops’.
